Can you tell us more about your career as an entrepreneur?
I turned to entrepreneurship in early 2016 – I already had a project in mind. The project was born of a personal need: at the time, most of my weekends were spent alone with my two-year-old daughter, and I lamented the lack of options for getting breakfast delivered to my home.
You followed one of our acceleration cycles. How did that go?
I applied to nyuko’s acceleration programme with this idea of establishing a service that would deliver nice little breakfasts to people’s doorsteps at weekends.
My project was accepted. Part of the training involved establishing whether there was any actual demand for the service that I wanted to provide. I quickly realised that demand might be low, but I still finished the course, convinced that the lessons would prove to be useful at some point.
Then, just a few weeks later, I was going out in Luxembourg city and arrived late to my appointment because I could not find a parking spot. I realised that this was the case for 80% of the people in town. I also figured that there was something we could do to solve this everyday problem: that’s how Click’n’Park came to be.
What did you learn from the acceleration cycle?
Lots of things! The first is that your startup idea may meet your own needs, but a personal need does not always correspond to a more general demand. We must systematically verify this hypothesis, accept criticism and know how to listen to the real needs of people. This really is THE most important thing that I have learned here.
I also appreciate the sense of community and sharing that I found in my learning process: to be able to share your progress and ideas with others, to help them in their development, to be inspired by their solutions to problems that you have in common, and so on. Staying isolated with your idea is not good.
Generally, the course was a great experience.
Even if it’s been a while since I finished it, the common sense that I acquired has been very useful, and I am even still in touch with some of the other project leaders. I felt compelled to come back to nyuko to keep you informed of my progress, because I honestly believe that it is thanks to your that I have made it this far!
What do you plan to do next?
The journey has been slow, but I am thrilled and excited to announce that the first version of the app is now online and accessible to the public!
My plan is to now spend the next few weeks collecting feedback from the users. I developed this concept because I wanted to make an impact in the day-to-day lives of drivers in Luxembourg, and so it important for me to listen to their comments and their expectations.
Summarize the concept of your startup in a tweet!
Click'n'Park solves the lack of parking available in Luxembourg by allowing users to sub-let unused or partially used spaces.
