Adrian Bardan is a web developer. He moved to Luxembourg from Romania and has been a resident coworker at nyuko since April 2016.
Have a look at what he has to say about what he does and who he is:
What do you do for a living?
I’m a web developer. I create web sites and web applications for various clients, mostly for companies from the US; I’ve been doing this for the last eight years so far. Before that, I was a programmer for a market research company in Bucharest.
Professionally speaking, what are your goals for the coming year?
It is tough to predict for this year, because my wife and I, we don’t know how long we’ll be in Luxembourg. For now, though, I like my current job: I have a lot of freedom and I can go back to Romania at any time. Speaking long-term, I guess I will try to move to a more management-related job in my field, but that’s not possible with my current job or with my current clients.
Did you always want to be a web developer?
As a kid, my dream was to be a cop! But that was stupid… (laughs)
I started thinking about becoming a web developer once I entered high school. I first went to a music school, where I played the piano and the violin. I hated it! I had always wanted to play with a computer, and so once I moved to a high school with a focus on mathematics and informatics, I realized that this was my dream.
Is there anyone that you would consider your role model?
There is a manager from the US that I work with. He’s a very close friend and we’ve been working together for the past 3 years. It’s been an awesome relationship and I have learned a lot from him. He lives in Romania and we meet a lot there; I think he’s one of my role models.
What are some things that you do in your free time?
Well… I do some sports like biking, hiking and running. During the winter, I go snowboarding: I usually do a one-week snowboarding trip every year. And I also create videos at home! I travel quite a bit, so I have started a small channel on YouTube on which I share my trips.
Are there any advantages to working in a coworking space that you would like to highlight?
The main advantage for me is the flexibility on cost. Other advantages include the possibility of meeting other people - to network and make connections. Another advantage specific to nyuko is that the office is close to where I live.
